Triangular Felt Pyramids Advent Calendar
This beautiful Christmas countdown can be used for many years to come. We grew up having the same kind of Advent calendars every year. It is the familiarity of tradition that makes us love it so much.
The images shown here are the German version of the calendar tags. I made it for my husband.
The English version of the tags consists of numbered tags from 1 to 25 plus Christmas Eve and Christmas if preferred. See below.
Instructions
Dark gray felt for 25 pyramids
Thin red ribbon
Red thread
Red card stock for tags
PDF for printing see below
Sweets or chocolates
Scissors, pins and sewing machine
It takes about 2.5 hours to sew this Advent calendar. The fastest way is to perform each of the steps on all 25 pieces and then proceeds to the next step.
We used 9″ x 12″ pieces of felt that were cut into 3″ x 6″ rectangles.
Print, cut and punch the numbers. If desired, you can laminate the printed sheet before cutting.
Cut the ribbon into 3″ long pieces and attach a number to each.
Fold both ends of the felt pieces to the center and overlap just a little.
Sew along the right edge with a straight stitch.
Put both ends of the left side against each other and sew. The two sewn edges must run diagonally.
Stuff the ribbon ends into the pyramid and hold the number down with a needle. Start sewing from the open side towards the fold.
Remove all needles and fill the pyramid.
