Never Say Never!

When we got home from our 2020 Covid road trip, of course all of our friends asked how it was. And the answer was always: “It was ok, but we don’t have to go there anymore.”

Life in our beloved Vancouver continued as usual.

Fast forward. In February 2023, two very good friends of ours moved to Calgary. It was for professional reasons. The two of them kept asking us when we were coming to visit them. We’re like, “We’ll come visit you. Don’t worry…” And the ulterior motive was, yes, yes, we’ll get there. Sometime…

In July we finally flew to Calgary to give the city a second chance. It was a completely different experience than three years before. The city was lively. We enjoyed a long weekend with our friends with good food and conversation. We saw the city in a completely different light. It always makes a difference when you are traveling with locals. You not only experience the tourist side of a place, but also see how the residents live and celebrate.

We were also there when our friends looked at two properties because they were looking for something to buy. We Vancouverites couldn’t believe our eyes at how much less you can get a lot more living space here. But, it’s in Calgary…

We did fly back to Vancouver with a changed mindset.
