A Simple Christmas Table
I confess to a slight obsession with folding German Christmas stars from paper. My love affair with paper began in childhood and has never waned. There’s a unique satisfaction in transforming flat sheets into intricate forms, rivaled only by the joy of seeing my own creations printed on fine paper.
The arrangement is easy to assemble. Use a few sprigs of winter greens and tie the ends to a flat bunch. If you have use tree candle holders and real candles. Otherwise just use a string of battery powered small lights. Then decorate the creation with ornaments you have in your Christmas chest.
The table was covered with a gray table cloth. It was actually a flat bed sheet we have no use for otherwise. Black napkins were rolled up and tied with a thin velvet ribbon.
Klaus cooked a wonderful meal… same procedure as every year… bliss.
For dessert, we indulged in a labor-of-love German tree cake. Each layer was baked separately, then stacked to resemble a majestic tree trunk.
